Kasey Price was born on May 24, 1989 in Lexington, KY. She developed a love for music early in life. She played trumpet throughout grade school and shifted her interests to behind-the-scenes work in college.
She attended Transylvania University and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's of Art in Music Technology. While at Transy, she studied voice and audio engineering.
Kasey pursued her engineering passion and worked as a Producer and Technical Chair for Transy's WTLX radio station. While still an undergrad, she interned at Central Kentucky Radio Eye and Dynamic Productions both located in Lexington, KY.
In 2011, she began her journey as a graduate student at Middle Tennessee State University. While in the Recording Arts and Technology program, Kasey interned at Royal Studios and Stax Music Academy, and later became an employee of Stax. While at Stax she was allotted the opportunity to be a Music Production Instructor and Engineer.
After graduation, Kasey hopes to continue her career as not only an engineer but a songwriter and producer as well.
Kasey’s research topic for her final project is R&B music production, specifically 70s and modern studio production. As a result, a musical project was produced exploring the differences and similarities between the two techniques. She also created an analytical paper on the subject.
Kasey used three different songs (“We Can”, “Cruise With Me”, and “Chicken Pox”) for her experiment and recorded two different versions of each in order to represent 70s R&B production and modern R&B production.
All of the songs are available for playback in the music player located on the homepage and music page. Her thesis paper is available for viewing on the music page.
